Netflix is developing a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series based on the Forgotten Realms setting, according to Deadline. The project, one of Netflix's largest fantasy TV investments, will be helmed by Shawn Levy (director of Deadpool and Wolverine), with Drew Crevello (WeCrashed) as writer and showrunner. While Netflix and Hasbro haven't confirmed the news, Deadline reports that the pilot script is complete and, if successful, could spawn a larger D&D universe on the platform. The deal followed extensive negotiations, typical for such a significant IP.

While this series looks promising, there's currently no official word on a sequel to Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, despite its popularity with audiences. Despite Chris Pine's expressed interest and confidence in a sequel, Paramount Pictures' CEO, Brian Robbins, has indicated that a sequel would only proceed with a reduced budget. Meanwhile, Amazon's Secret Level anthology series features a D&D animated segment.
