Exploring Dynasty Warriors: Origins' expansive world offers various rewards to bolster your combat prowess. While Pyroxene farming yields gems, you'll also discover Old Coins, whose purpose isn't immediately apparent.
Numerous Old Coins are scattered throughout the game (hundreds, in fact). This guide details their uses and acquisition methods.
What To Use Old Coins For In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Old Coins are unusable in the game's initial chapter; focus on the main storyline. After commencing Chapter 2 and completing these main story battles:
- Suppression of You Province
- Suppression of Jing Province
- Suppression of Liang Province
You'll return to Ji and encounter Sima Hui. Following your conversation and obtaining incense for the Innkeeper, the Shui Jing Retreat will appear near Ji. Here, you can exchange Old Coins with Sima Hui. Besides reviewing bonds and past interactions, you can trade coins for rewards.
Rewards are tied to specific Old Coin milestones; redeem them whenever possible.

How To Get Old Coins In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
With 500 Old Coins to find, avoid early farming; more acquisition methods unlock naturally. These include:
- Overworld exploration.
- Companion and officer Bond Interactions.
- Inn letters after story events.
- Regional Peace rewards at Waypoints.
The overworld Old Coin icon is small and only visible up close, unlike Pyroxene. Focus on gameplay; the coins will accumulate organically. Their rewards vary in utility.
