Palworld Switch Release Unlikely Due to Technical Challenges, Says Developer

While a Nintendo Switch version of Palworld isn't entirely off the table, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe recently expressed significant concerns regarding the technical hurdles involved in porting the game. This isn't due to any conflict with Pokémon, but rather the demanding PC specifications of the current game.

Palworld's Future Platforms

In an interview with Game File, Mizobe detailed the ongoing discussions about potential new platforms for Palworld. However, he emphasized that no concrete announcements regarding future releases on Switch, PlayStation, or mobile devices can be made at this time. While earlier statements confirmed explorations of bringing Palworld to more platforms, no specific targets have been revealed beyond these general discussions. The company has also clarified that, while open to partnerships and acquisitions, they aren't currently in buyout talks with Microsoft.
Expanding Multiplayer Experiences

Beyond platform considerations, Mizobe highlighted ambitions to enhance Palworld's multiplayer aspect. The upcoming Sakurajima update, launching with a new PvP arena (described as an experiment), is a significant step towards this goal. Mizobe explicitly stated his desire to implement a full-fledged PvP mode, drawing inspiration from popular survival games like Ark and Rust, known for their complex environments, resource management, and player interaction systems, including alliances and PvP combat.
Palworld's Success and Upcoming Update

Palworld's impressive launch, boasting 15 million PC copies sold in its first month and 10 million players on Xbox Game Pass, demonstrates its significant popularity. The upcoming free Sakurajima update, arriving Thursday, promises a new island, the highly anticipated PvP arena, and other additions to further enhance the player experience.
