Hello fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024! Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, wasn't it? A slew of surprise game releases means our typically quiet Wednesday is anything but! We've got news, a review of today's eShop additions, and the usual sales updates. Let's dive in!
News
Partner/Indie World Showcase: A Treasure Trove of Games
Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases was a smart move, resulting in a flurry of announcements. While I can't cover everything, highlights include several surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I highly recommend watching the full video; it's worth your time.
New Game Highlights
Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)
A fantastic surprise! This third Castlevania compilation includes the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also features a vastly improved remake of the infamous arcade game, Haunted Castle, courtesy of M2. Exceptional emulation and a wealth of features make this an incredible value.
Pizza Tower ($19.99)
This Wario Land-inspired platformer is a frantic, fun addition to the Switch library. Players must navigate five challenging floors of the Pizza Tower to save their restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will love this, but even those without strong Wario feelings should give it a try if they enjoy platformers. A review is pending.
Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)
Another surprise release! It's Goat Simulator 3. You know the drill. While performance on the Switch remains to be seen (other platforms have experienced some issues), its chaotic nature might actually complement any potential performance hiccups. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide if this silly open-world goat simulator is for you.
Peglin ($19.99)
I think EA missed a huge opportunity by not bringing PopCap's games to the Switch. But for Peggle fans, Peglin is an excellent alternative. This turn-based RPG roguelite, previously available on mobile, is just as enjoyable on the Switch. A review is coming soon.
Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)
Kairosoft's latest shop simulator features the beloved Doraemon characters. It's a solid entry in their established formula, adding a popular license to the mix. Fans of the series will appreciate the attention to detail.
Pico Park 2 ($8.99)
More Pico Park for existing fans! Up to eight players can enjoy local or online multiplayer in this cooperative puzzle game. While not drastically different from the first, it's a great option for those who enjoyed the original.
Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)
A budget-friendly rhythm game featuring Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Simple, but enjoyable for the price.
SokoPenguin ($4.99)
A classic Sokoban-style puzzle game with a penguin twist. One hundred levels of crate-pushing fun.
Q2 Humanity ($6.80)
Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles with unique character abilities and drawing mechanics. Supports up to four players locally or online.
