Mastering the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies Staff of Ice Upgrade
The Staff of Ice, a unique Wonder Weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, starts weak but transforms into a high-round powerhouse. This guide details its upgrade process on The Tomb map.
Prerequisites:
Before upgrading, acquire the Staff of Ice itself. This can be found in the Mystery Box or crafted from three parts. Early access to the Dark Aether Nexus (via the Door to Nowhere) is crucial.
Upgrade Steps:
Step 1: Freezing Dark Aether Crystals
Freeze three Dark Aether Crystals (located in underground lanterns with black frames and purple fire) consecutively using the Staff of Ice. Perks like Stamin-Up and PHD Flopper (with Tribologist) significantly aid this step. Optimize your route—starting in the tomb area, then Shrine of the Hierophants, and finally the Subterranean Temple entrance lantern is efficient. Ensure at least one of the depicted lanterns is active. Success triggers a quote from Archibald, signaling progression to the Dark Aether Nexus.
Step 2: Dark Aether Nexus Floating Rocks
Locate three floating rocks in the Dark Aether Nexus, each displaying a glowing purple Rune. Note the symbol on each. Shoot each Rune with the Staff of Ice (a hitmarker confirms success). This lowers the rocks, improving visibility. A sniper rifle might assist in identifying the symbols. The order is inconsequential.
Step 3: Rune Symbol Puzzle
A stone wall replaces a portal in the Dark Aether Nexus. Return to the corresponding map area. Locate a wall with Runic icons; three match the symbols from the floating rocks. Shoot these three with the Staff of Ice. The portal will reappear, regardless of accuracy. Incorrect symbols teleport you back to the Nexus from a high altitude. Multiple failures may require waiting for the next round. Correct symbols lead to a floating rock with a purple orb. Interact with the orb.
Step 4: Soul Chest Orb Escort
The orb begins moving. Kill zombies near it; their essence fuels the orb's movement. Guide it to the central structure in the Nexus. A small purple portal appears. Interact with it to upgrade the Staff of Ice to Ull's Arrow.
Ull's Arrow Abilities:
Ull's Arrow boasts a powerful charged AoE attack and an alternate fire for reviving downed players, similar to its Origins counterpart.
