GAMM Unveils Rare Collection of Game History Treasures

Rome's newest and largest video game museum, GAMM (Game Museum), is now open! Located in Piazza della Repubblica, this impressive museum is the creation of Marco Accordi Rickards, a writer, journalist, professor, and CEO of Vigamus.

Rickards, a passionate advocate for preserving video game history, describes GAMM as a journey through the intersection of history, technology, and interactive gameplay. The museum builds upon the legacy of Vigamus, a previous Rome-based gaming museum that attracted over two million visitors since its 2012 opening.

GAMM boasts 700 square meters of exhibit space across two floors, divided into three captivating thematic areas. Get a sneak peek below!

Explore GAMM's Three Thematic Areas:

  • GAMMDOME: A dynamic digital playground featuring interactive stations alongside authentic gaming artifacts, including consoles and donated items. This area embodies the "4 E Concept": Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.

  • PARC (Path of Arcadia): Step back in time to the golden age of arcade games! Relive the classics from the late 1970s through the 1980s, with a touch of early 1990s nostalgia.

  • HIP (Historical Playground): Delve into the mechanics of game design itself. This area offers a behind-the-scenes look at game structure, interaction, and design principles.

Visit GAMM:

GAMM is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, and Fridays and Saturdays until 11:30 PM. Tickets are €15. Visit the official GAMM website for more information.
