Microsoft has officially unveiled the sequel to Grounded during its Xbox Games Showcase 2025, and fans won’t have to wait long to dive in — Grounded 2 will be available as early as next month.
Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, Grounded 2 continues the adventures of players shrunk down to insect size in a vast, dangerous outdoor world. If you enjoyed the backyard chaos of the first game, this sequel expands the experience with new environments, challenges, and creatures to encounter.
Just like its predecessor, Grounded 2 will launch through Xbox Game Preview, allowing players to experience the evolving title while it's still in development. Early access begins on July 29, 2025, for PC and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
The reveal trailer showcased gameplay beyond the original’s garden setting — now set in a nearby park filled with towering grasses, hidden threats, and familiar survival mechanics. As before, crafting tools, managing resources, and avoiding deadly predators remain central to the experience. This time around, caterpillars have joined the roster of potentially menacing wildlife.
But not every creature is out to get you. The trailer teased one exciting mechanic: players can jump onto the back of an ant and ride it into battle or exploration. It’s a fun, imaginative twist that captures the essence of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids all over again.
Stay tuned for more updates and announcements from the Xbox Games Showcase June 2025.
