We previously knew Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 Enhanced was coming to PS5, and now we have an official release date: August 12.
Ninja Theory's acclaimed title will launch in two versions: a $49.99 standard edition including the base Hellblade 2 with all Enhanced update improvements, and a $69.99 deluxe edition that bundles the PS5-upgraded Hellblade 1 along with the original soundtrack - making it ideal for newcomers to Senua's story.
Existing owners of the PS4 version of Hellblade 1 will receive a free upgrade to the PS5 version.
All Enhanced edition content coming to PS5 will also be available as a free update for PC and Xbox Series X/S, featuring multiple gameplay enhancements:
- Performance Mode: While the original targeted 30fps for cinematic immersion, this new mode optimizes for 60fps. PC players get an additional "Very High" preset for maximum fidelity based on their hardware.
- Dark Rot Mode: This optional challenge reintroduces the menacing Dark Rot mechanic from Senua's Sacrifice - with failure causing the rot to spread until it reaches Senua's head, resulting in permanent game over.
- Enhanced Photo Mode: The update brings expanded creative tools including a new 'Motion' tab for cinematic video captures.
- Developer Commentary: Over four hours of insights from the development team reveal the creative process behind Hellblade II's most impactful moments.
