The film's synopsis describes "The Odyssey" as a mythic action epic filmed globally using innovative IMAX technology. It will be the first time Homer's foundational story is presented in IMAX.

The narrative follows Odysseus, King of Ithaca, on his arduous ten-year journey home after the Trojan War. While plot details remain scarce, early reports suggest an impressive ensemble cast. Damon, reuniting with Universal after his "Oppenheimer" success, is reportedly joined by a stellar lineup including Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and Robert Pattinson. Damon's casting was initially reported as the film's first major development.
