Marvel Rivals, the acclaimed hero shooter, is a hit on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, NetEase, the developer, has ruled out a Nintendo Switch release due to performance limitations. But what about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2?
Recently, at the DICE Summit, Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu hinted at a potential Switch 2 port. Wu stated that NetEase is already in communication with Nintendo, working with development kits. He emphasized that a Switch 2 release is contingent on achieving satisfactory performance. The original Switch's limitations prevented a smooth gaming experience, but if the Switch 2 can deliver that, a port is a definite possibility.
The Nintendo Switch 2, officially revealed last month, promises enhanced power and features. Rumors suggest a mouse-like controller element, potentially improving shooter gameplay. However, the specifics remain unclear.
While the Switch 2 release date is unconfirmed, a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2nd. Marvel Rivals, meanwhile, is available now on other platforms and has received positive critical reception, scoring an 8/10 in our review. We praised its potential to surpass its predecessors in the hero shooter genre. The Human Torch and The Thing are slated to join the roster on February 21st.
