Michael J. Fox and Gibson have officially launched a global hunt for the legendary guitar featured in the iconic Enchantment Under the Sea dance sequence from Back to the Future.
"We need your help tracking down the guitar I played in Back to the Future," Fox announced in a special YouTube video. "It's either lost in the space-time continuum or collecting dust in some crew member's garage."

Fox's co-stars Lea Thompson and Christopher Lloyd joined the campaign, urging fans to submit tips through Gibson's dedicated website or hotline. Even Huey Lewis, whose music defined the film's soundtrack, appeared in the announcement video.
The guitar quest will be featured in Gibson's upcoming documentary Lost to the Future, chronicling the 40-year mystery surrounding the instrument's disappearance.

"We've tracked countless leads over the years, but memories fade after four decades," documentary director Doc Crotzer told The Hollywood Reporter. "Without digital records, we're left with conflicting stories and unverified rumors."
Gibson strategically timed the search to coincide with the film's 40th anniversary celebration.

Screenwriter Bob Gale recently reaffirmed that the franchise will remain complete as-is, despite fan speculation about potential reboots or spinoffs inspired by Cobra Kai's success.
"Why does this keep coming up?" Gale told People magazine. "No sequels, no prequels, no spinoffs - it's perfect enough as it stands."
