Dr. Disrespect's Midnight Society Shuts Down, Cancels Deadrop
Midnight Society, the game development studio co-founded by streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its highly anticipated FPS game, Deadrop.
The studio revealed the news in an X post, stating, "Today we are announcing Midnight Society will be closing its doors after three incredible years, with an amazing team of over 55 developers." The post also included a plea for employment opportunities for its now-displaced team members.
Midnight Society, established by Beahm alongside Call of Duty and Halo veterans Robert Bowling and Quinn Delhyo, aimed to deliver a free-to-play FPS, Deadrop, leveraging the team's extensive experience. While initially targeting a 2024 release, Deadrop ultimately failed to meet its launch window.

The studio's relationship with Beahm ended in 2024 following the streamer's admission of inappropriate interactions with a minor via Twitch's Whispers feature. Despite this separation, development on Deadrop continued until the recent shutdown.
Deadrop was envisioned within a unique "80s never ended" fictional setting. Promotional materials showcased characters sporting Daft Punk-esque helmets, wielding both firearms and melee weapons, in a planned PvPvE extraction shooter format.
Midnight Society's closure adds to the growing list of studios facing financial hardship and restructuring within the current challenging games industry climate, impacting major players such as Ubisoft, BioWare, and Phoenix Labs, among numerous others.
