Monster Train, the acclaimed roguelite deck-building game, has now arrived on Android, following its initial release on PC in 2020, consoles, and iOS in 2022. Often compared to Slay the Spire due to its genre and gameplay, Monster Train offers a unique experience that sets it apart.
What Does Monster Train Bring to Android?
Set on a train plunging into the frozen heart of hell, your mission is to safeguard the last burning pyre from heavenly invaders. What distinguishes Monster Train is its innovative use of three vertical lanes. Unlike most games where battles occur on a single battlefield, here you manage three simultaneously, adding a strategic depth to the gameplay.
As you progress, you'll unlock over 250 cards, with five distinct monster clans to choose from. Each clan has its own unique playstyle, and you can combine two clans to create powerful synergies. Furthermore, every clan offers ten levels of upgrades, enhancing your cards as you play them more often. Champions, the game's standout units, can receive multiple upgrades, significantly boosting their effectiveness.
The Android version of Monster Train is packed with all the latest updates, including the Wild Mutations and Friends & Foes expansions. Wild Mutations introduces 35 new mutators and new difficulty settings, enriching the game's replayability. Friends & Foes adds new champions, bosses, cards, and artifacts, further expanding your strategic options.
Additionally, the game includes The Last Divinity DLC, which enhances replay value with the introduction of the Wurmkin clan. To unlock them, you must reach Covenant level 1. The DLC also features the Pact Shards mechanic, offering new powers and a formidable final boss, 'The Last Divinity.'
Will You Try It Out?
The Android version of Monster Train is fully playable offline, even in airplane mode, and is available for a one-time purchase of $10. In-app purchases are limited mainly to unlocking the full game. Once purchased through your Google account, your progress can be carried over across devices thanks to cloud save support. However, note that there is no controller support. You can explore and download Monster Train on the Google Play Store.
