Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following the recent CES 2025 event, where accessory maker Genki presented a purported 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, Nintendo has officially refuted the claims. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's statement that the images and videos are not official and that Genki's displayed hardware is unofficial and was not provided by Nintendo.
Genki, an American manufacturer of electronics and gaming accessories (controllers, SSDs, chargers, etc.), generated significant buzz by showcasing the mockup and allegedly revealing details about a "real" Switch 2 unit, including a supposed release date. They even feature a detailed Switch 2 accessory page on their website, complete with an animated mockup of the console.
Despite Genki's claims, Nintendo maintains silence on concrete Switch 2 details, only confirming that future announcements are forthcoming and that backward compatibility with the original Switch and its games is planned. This public denial by Nintendo suggests an official announcement regarding the Switch 2 may be imminent.
