Obsidian Entertainment's forthcoming role-playing game Avowed achieves 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X.
Game director Carrie Patel, in a discussion with MinnMax, confirmed that the title reaches up to 60fps on Microsoft’s high-end console, while the Xbox Series S version remains capped at 30fps, as previously stated.
It remains uncertain whether Avowed will feature distinct performance and graphics modes, a common option where performance mode prioritizes 60fps with reduced visual fidelity, and graphics mode opts for 30fps with enhanced visuals, or if the game naturally delivers 60fps on Xbox Series X by default.
Avowed launches on February 13 for players spending at least $89.99, though those opting for the $69.99 tier must wait until February 18, a pricing strategy recently adopted by some publishers but already abandoned by companies like Ubisoft.
Set in the Pillars of Eternity universe, Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG emphasizing player choice. Its narrative explores themes of war, mystery, and intrigue, with players shaping alliances or rivalries as they traverse the game’s world.
In IGN’s Final Preview, Avowed received acclaim for its engaging dialogue, player freedom, and overall enjoyment, with reviewers noting that “Avowed is simply a blast to play.”
