Orna: The GPS RPG is gearing up for another significant event titled "Natureblight," set to unfold from May 30th, 2025, to June 14th. This marks the continuation of Terra's Legacy, where players engage in an environmental battle. Natureblight introduces a new threat to Orna: The Great Murk, a malevolent force threatening the planet's ecosystems.
Northern Forge Studios is emphasizing environmental conservation, aligning with their previous updates. This event is the studio's second collaboration with the Green Game Jam, supported by the Playing for the Planet Alliance. Known for integrating real-world location data with fantasy elements, Orna takes players to seven actual locations facing critical environmental challenges.
Throughout the event, players will visit these real-world locations, each featuring an animal guardian representing its unique ecosystem. From Prince Edward County in Canada, home to the Beaver, to the Coral Reefs of Oceania, and the Mountain Gorillas of Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, players encounter diverse wildlife. Other locations include Dunkerque, France, with its Bone Mammoth relics, Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands featuring the Giant Tortoise, Chengdu’s Giant Pandas, and the Macaroni Penguins of the Antarctic Peninsula.
Players can form bonds with these Animal Guardians and retain them as companions post-event. As players explore, they discover how the alien Terran civilization caused environmental destruction, including deforestation, pollution, and species extinction. The Great Murk, a lingering blight, now threatens Orna, requiring players to combat this menace.
Complementing the theme, a Natureblight pack is available via PlanetPlay, offering origin town cosmetics, character sprites, and consumable boosters.
