Divinity: Original Sin 2 Blackroot Location Guide

In Divinity: Original Sin 2, Blackroot is a crucial herb, especially for the Miester's Ritual in Act 4. This ritual, guided by Miester Siva, requires a ritual bowl, a bloody obsidian lancet, and Blackroot to unlock the Hall of Echoes and obtain Night Vision. While the initial ritual ingredients are found in Siva's basement, subsequent rituals (performed after gaining each Source point) require you to locate them yourself. This guide focuses on finding Blackroot.

Venture into Cloisterwood

Cloisterwood, a dense forest northwest of Driftwood on Reaper's Coast, is where you'll find Blackroot. Once inside, use the ALT key to highlight interactive objects. Blackroot grows at the base of certain trees. Gather several, even though only one is needed per ritual. This guide avoids spoiling the number of times the ritual is required.

Cloisterwood Exploration Tips

Cloisterwood offers more than just Blackroot. Explore to discover:

  • Source Point NPCs: Hannag and Jahan can each grant a Source point, with Jahan also advancing Lohse's storyline.
  • Undead Trader: Eithne, located in ruins, offers a side quest via the "Divine Order" dialogue option.
  • Dead Ferryman: Located at a northern pier, he provides passage to Bloodmoon Island.
  • Other Secrets: Explore Wrecker's Cave and potentially find a unique loremaster amulet by interacting with a ship captain's spirit.

Note: Consider exploring Cloisterwood thoroughly before confronting Alice Alisceon (the crucified witch) as she is a challenging encounter, best tackled at level 15 or higher.
