Legendary Pokémon Arrive in Pokémon GO
Black and White Kyurem's Grand Entrance
Following the December 2024 announcement of the February 2025 Unova Tour, Niantic has revealed the exciting addition of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta.
From February 21st to 23rd, 2025, attendees of the in-person events in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA, can capture and fuse Kyurem into its powerful Black and White forms. To begin, trainers must defeat Black or White Kyurem in five-star raids to obtain the base Kyurem form.
Once you've caught Kyurem, the fusion process begins! Choose your path: fuse with Zekrom for Black Kyurem, or Reshiram for White Kyurem. Fusion unlocks unique attacks: Freeze Shock (Black Kyurem) and Ice Burn (White Kyurem). Here's the breakdown of fusion requirements:
- Black Kyurem: 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy
- White Kyurem: 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy
Earn Fusion Energy by conquering Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversing the fusion back to base Kyurem is free! Plus, enjoy increased Shiny rates for Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom during the event.
For those unable to attend the in-person events, a global event, Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Global, runs from March 1st to 2nd, 2025. This event is free for all players!
Meloetta, the Melody Pokémon, Joins the Celebration!
In addition to Kyurem's alternate forms, Shiny Meloetta makes its Pokémon GO debut! In-person event ticket holders can complete a Masterwork Research to encounter this enchanting Pokémon. Don't worry about the short in-person event window; the Masterwork Research doesn't expire!

Iconic Legendaries from Pokémon Black and White 2
Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originally appeared in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of Pokémon games set in the Unova region. The first three are obtainable during the main storyline, while Meloetta is a post-game reward.
Pokémon Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, each learning Ice Burn or Freeze Shock, just like their Pokémon GO counterparts.
With the Tao Trio's alternate forms arriving in Pokémon GO for a limited time in February and globally in March, prepare for an unforgettable Unova experience!
