The Tuscaloosa Police Department is seeking public assistance to identify a thief who robbed a convenience store while wearing a Scooby-Doo costume.
The incident occurred at the Quick Stop on Highway 82 last weekend, where surveillance footage captured the suspect dressed as the iconic Hanna-Barbera character stealing coins from gaming machines.
At one point, the thief removed the Scooby-Doo mask—only to reveal a balaclava underneath. ("Zoinks," indeed.)
Authorities describe the suspect as a white male, approximately 5'9", and are asking for tips regarding his identity. (Because, let's face it, it's usually the caretaker.)
Photos shared by the Tuscaloosa PD on Facebook show the suspect inside the store at 3:45 AM. While he reportedly "stole cash and coins," he left the snacks untouched—a bizarre choice for someone dressed as the most snack-obsessed cartoon dog.
In a lighthearted follow-up, police posted an image of the Mystery Machine outside their station with the caption: "We’ve questioned the vehicle's owners, but no leads yet. Stay alert for shady adults, and remember—don’t interfere if you spot the suspect."

Could this be guerrilla marketing for Netflix’s upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo reboot?
The streaming service recently announced the series, a "modern take" on the franchise, which will follow the gang—now including "Freddy"—as they investigate a supernatural murder at a summer camp, aided by their "very special dog."
