In the zombie-infested world of Project Zomboid, securing your shelter is paramount. While finding a safe haven is relatively straightforward, keeping the undead horde at bay requires strategic defense. This guide focuses on a fundamental yet effective method: barricading windows.
Barricading Windows: A Step-by-Step Guide
To effectively barricade a window, gather the necessary materials: one wooden plank, a hammer, and four nails. Once you have these items, right-click the target window. Your character will automatically begin securing the plank. Each window supports up to four planks for enhanced protection.
Resource Locations:
- Nails and Hammers: These are typically found in toolboxes, garages, sheds, closets, and similar locations.
- Planks: Construction sites are a prime source. Alternatively, you can dismantle wooden furniture (shelves, chairs) in a pinch. Administrators can utilize the "/additem" command for item spawning.
Barricaded windows significantly hinder zombie entry attempts. The more planks installed, the greater the resistance. To remove planks, right-click the boards and select "Remove." Note that you'll need a claw hammer or crowbar for this task.
Important Note: Larger furniture items (bookshelves, refrigerators) cannot be used as effective window barriers; characters and zombies will pass right through them.
While this guide covers basic wooden barricades, more robust defenses using metal bars or sheets are achievable with sufficient Metalworking skill.
