PS5 Update Adds DualSense Multi-Device Pairing

Authore: AnthonyUpdate:Nov 09,2025

The latest PS5 system update now allows your DualSense controller to pair with multiple devices without requiring repeated pairing when switching between them.

Sony explained that since many gamers use their PS5 controllers across various platforms like PCs, Macs, tablets, and more, enabling seamless peripheral compatibility creates a smoother and more flexible gaming experience. This means transitioning from your PS5 to Steam won't require constant unpairing and re-pairing.

The feature works by assigning each device to a specific slot. By holding the PS button along with one of the action buttons (Triangle, Circle, Cross, or Square), you can save up to four devices simultaneously. Switch between them using the PS button and the corresponding action button.

Indicator lights will show which slot and device you're connected to, displaying one to four lights accordingly. Here's the breakdown from Sony:

Slot numberButton usedPlayer indicator lightsExample connected device
Slot 1PS button and Triangle buttonOne light onPS5
Slot 2PS button and Circle buttonTwo lights onPS5 Pro
Slot 3PS button and Cross buttonThree lights onWindows PC
Slot 4PS button and Square buttonFour lights oniPhone

This feature was initially tested earlier in the summer and will soon be available to all users. To get the latest update, go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings.

The update also introduces a Power Saver option, accessible via Settings > System > Power Saving > Use Power Saver. Sony confirmed that future game updates for titles like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Demon’s Souls, and Ghost of Yōtei will support this option, with more games to follow.
