Overcharge Overhaul
During the recent open beta for REPO's upcoming update, developer Semiwork gathered crucial feedback from fans. A standout feature that caught their attention was the game's Overcharge mechanic.
The Overcharge mechanic empowers players to counter enemies by lifting and hurling them onto hard surfaces or away from their team. However, this isn't something players can do freely; an overcharge meter fills up, and when it reaches its limit, the player will explode.
Originally, the Overcharge mechanic was accessible from the game's outset, but the developers have decided to unlock it at level 10. Additionally, they plan to introduce new mechanics that increase difficulty every 10 levels (at levels 20, 30, and so on), starting with Overcharge as the first of these challenges.
These new mechanics will be seamlessly integrated into the game's lore, as stated by Semiwork: "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."
Developers Joined Open Beta Matchmaking
Throughout the open beta, Semiwork's developers joined random matches, engaging directly with players to discuss potential improvements. Pontus Sundstrom, a developer at Semiwork, expressed his delight in seeing players enjoy the new features they introduced.
Sundstrom shared, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." He further explained, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."
