Saros, Housemarque's Next Epic, Launching 2026

Authore: IsaacUpdate:Feb 24,2025

Housemarque's next title, Saros, a successor to the acclaimed 2022 roguelite shooter Returnal, is set for a 2026 release on PlayStation 5, with enhancements for the PS5 Pro. The game, unveiled during the recent PlayStation State of Play, features Rahul Kohli and retains the signature Housemarque style.

Players take on the role of Arjun Devraj, a Solatri enforcer investigating a perilous, ever-changing planet shrouded in an eclipse and menaced by a formidable entity. The game's emphasis on "coming back stronger" and its fiery, bullet-hell action sequences clearly resonate with the Returnal lineage.

PlayCreative director Gregory Louden describes Saros as the "ultimate evolution" of Housemarque's action-focused gameplay. While a new single-player IP, it expands upon Returnal's third-person combat mechanics.

However, significant gameplay differences exist. According to Louden's PlayStation Blog post, Saros introduces permanent resource management and progression. While the game world shifts after player death, weapon and suit upgrades are retained permanently.

Further details, including an extended gameplay reveal, are anticipated later this year. For a complete overview of the PlayStation State of Play announcements, consult our comprehensive recap.
