Exciting news for fans of Stellar Blade: developer Shift Up has officially confirmed that a fully-fledged sequel is in the works. Launched in April 2024, the PlayStation-published action game received a warm reception, with players praising its gameplay for blending elements of NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The announcement came via a chart outlining Shift Up's future plans, which was part of their latest financial results released today.

According to a presentation slide detailing Shift Up's expansion strategy, the Stellar Blade sequel is slated to be the next major release among other upcoming projects before 2027. Prior to the sequel's launch, fans can look forward to a "platform expansion" for Stellar Blade, which is expected to be the game's much-anticipated PC version, set to debut on June 11, 2025.

The development timeline leading up to 2027 will also see the release of Shift Up's enigmatic Project Witches, a new multiplatform action RPG that remains largely under wraps. This period promises to be a busy and exciting one for the Korean developer.

In our review, IGN highlighted that Stellar Blade is a visually stunning and well-crafted action game with notable strengths and weaknesses. While the game's story and characters were criticized for lacking depth, and some RPG elements such as sidequests were deemed underwhelming, the action more than compensates. The game's combat system, inspired by Sekiro, offers solid mechanics, and the variety of formidable enemies and hidden treasures greatly encourage exploration, making for a rewarding experience.
