World of Tanks Blitz pulls off a massive marketing campaign: a cross-country tank road trip!
Wargaming is taking a decommissioned, graffiti-covered tank on a U.S. tour to promote its recent collaboration with Deadmau5. The tank, street-legal and safe, made a timely appearance at The Game Awards in Los Angeles. Fans who spotted and photographed the tank during its journey had a chance to win exclusive merchandise.
The Deadmau5 and World of Tanks Blitz collaboration is now live, offering players the chance to acquire the exclusive Mau5tank, complete with lights, speakers, and music. Themed in-game quests, camos, and cosmetics are also available.
This playful marketing stunt highlights the game's fun and lighthearted side, although some hardcore military simulation fans might disagree. It's a harmless, attention-grabbing campaign, and certainly not the first time a company has used a similar tactic (breweries, for example, have done it before). For those who appreciate a touch of the unusual, the sight of a decorated tank rolling through the neighborhood is sure to add some excitement to a cold winter day.
