Valheim Merchant Locations and Inventory Guide: Haldor, Hildir, and the Bog Witch
Valheim's challenging world is made slightly less daunting by the presence of merchants. These helpful NPCs offer valuable goods, but their locations are procedurally generated, making them tricky to find. This guide details the locations and inventories of Haldor (Black Forest), Hildir (Meadows), and the Bog Witch (Swamp).
Finding Haldor (Black Forest Merchant)
Haldor, often the easiest to locate, spawns within a 1500m radius of your world's center. He resides in the Black Forest, an area accessible relatively early in the game. He's frequently found near The Elder's spawn point (often indicated by glowing ruins in Burial Chambers). For a quicker search, use the Valheim World Generator (created by wd40bomber7) to pinpoint his exact coordinates using your world seed. Once found, build a portal for easy access. Trade with him using gold, readily obtained from exploring dungeons and selling gems.

Finding Hildir (Meadows Merchant)
Hildir, located in the Meadows, is more challenging to find due to her distant spawn (3000-5100m from the world center, with spawn points ~1000m apart). The Valheim World Generator is again recommended. Alternatively, search Meadows within the specified radius. A T-shirt icon appears on the map when you're within 300-400m. Build a portal after finding her. Hildir offers clothing with stamina reduction buffs and quests to recover her lost chests, unlocking additional inventory. These quests lead to dungeons in various biomes:
- Smouldering Tombs (Black Forest)
- Howling Caverns (Mountains)
- Sealed Towers (Plains)
Each completed quest rewards a chest, unlocking new items in her shop.

Finding the Bog Witch (Swamp Merchant)
The Bog Witch, found in the challenging Swamp biome (3000-8000m from the world center, spawn points ~1000m apart), is the most difficult merchant to locate. The World Generator is highly recommended. Look for her Cauldron icon on the map as you approach. She offers unique items for cooking and mead crafting. Her hut provides comfort level 3.
