World of Warcraft Adding Heartfelt Tribute NPC in Patch 11.1

World of Warcraft Patch 11.1: A Touching Tribute and Undermine's Expansion

World of Warcraft's upcoming Patch 11.1 is shaping up to be a significant update, introducing new content in Undermine and a heartwarming tribute to a beloved player. Dataminers have uncovered an NPC, Lord Ibelin Redmoore, modeled after the character of Mats Steen, the subject of the documentary "The Remarkable Life of Ibelin." This inclusion is a poignant gesture, honoring Steen's legacy within the WoW community.

The patch, expected around February 25th, will significantly expand the Undermine experience. However, the Ibelin Redmoore NPC stands as a separate addition, unrelated to the Undermine content. His title, Private Investigator, reflects Steen's renowned roleplaying career as a detective in Stormwind.

Lord Ibelin Redmoore: A Legacy in-Game

Mats Steen, through his character Ibelin, was a highly respected roleplayer and member of the Starlight guild. His in-game persona was known for engaging interactions with other players. The exact nature of the in-game tribute remains a mystery, but speculation includes appearances in Stormwind taverns or perhaps along a route Steen was known to traverse regularly. Players may even encounter him on the Public Test Realm before the official patch release.

This marks the third tribute to Ibelin within World of Warcraft. A replica of his real-life grave in Elwynn Forest and a charity bundle featuring a Reven fox pet and backpack already exist, showcasing the enduring impact of Steen's story. The addition of Lord Ibelin Redmoore serves as a further testament to the profound connection he fostered within the World of Warcraft community.
