Who Won at the Google Play Awards 2024?

Google just announced its 2024 best app, game, and book selections. Some winners were predictable, others less so. Let's explore the Google Play Awards 2024 winners.

Top Performers

The coveted Best Game of the Year award went to AFK Journey, a fantasy RPG from Farlight and Lilith Games. Its expansive world, stunning visuals, and epic battles featuring a large cast of characters secured its victory. While surprising for an "Away From Keyboard" idle game, Google highlighted the game's exploration and visuals as key factors.

Supercell's Clash of Clans claimed the Best Multi-Device Game of the Year award, thanks to its expansion beyond mobile to PCs and Chromebooks. Now players can manage their clans, build armies, and raid villages across multiple platforms.

Other notable wins include Supercell's Squad Busters for Best Multiplayer Game and NetEase Games' Eggy Party for Best Pick Up & Play, praised for its accessibility.

A surprise winner in the Best Story category was Solo Leveling: Arise. While a well-received game, its narrative strength might be a matter of opinion.

The Best Indie title went to Yes, Your Grace, developed by Brave at Night and published by Noodlecake. Initially released on PC in 2020, its mobile debut this year proved immensely popular.

Honkai: Star Rail received the Best Ongoing award, maintaining its popularity through consistent updates and substantial content additions. Kids at Play's Tab Time World won Best for Families, and Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance was the Play Pass winner. Finally, Cookie Run: Tower of Adventures took home the Best Google Play Games on PC award.
