Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Adds Console Streaming

Authore: SavannahUpdate:Dec 25,2025

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have just received an exciting new benefit: the ability to stream select games directly to their consoles without needing to download anything.

This update was shared in an Xbox Wire news post today, confirming that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can now stream games from the Game Pass library, as well as certain games they own, directly to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles via cloud streaming.

Previously, this functionality was available on smart TVs, PCs, smartphones, and Meta Quest headsets, but it is now being introduced to consoles for the first time. This allows players to save time by bypassing downloads and preserving valuable storage space on their hard drives.

Here’s how Xbox says you can access the feature:

To begin streaming from your Xbox console, navigate to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games.

Games that support cloud streaming will feature a cloud badge on their game pages. Use filters to find compatible games faster. Select Filter > Ready to play > Cloud gaming. To start playing, choose the game and then select Play with Cloud Gaming. You can also begin streaming directly from the Store app after purchasing eligible cloud-enabled games.

On the other hand, players can stream any game installed on their Xbox console to other devices with a supported web browser using this link. According to Xbox, this capability is no longer offered via the Xbox mobile app but is accessible on mobile browsers. Xbox is also working to bring this feature to Samsung and Amazon Fire smart TVs, as well as Meta Quest headsets.

Additionally, Xbox announced that starting this month, Xbox and Xbox 360 backward-compatible titles will also support remote play.

Xbox explains that these updates are part of a broader initiative to free up storage space on Xbox consoles. The Xbox Wire post highlights a new console setting that suggests ways to manage and clear hard drive space, accessible via My Games & Apps > Manage.

In recent years, Xbox has actively worked to expand storage options amid growing game installation sizes—such as titles like Call of Duty and Baldur’s Gate 3. For those who still need more storage, even with these updates, we’ve outlined some of the best storage expansion solutions for Xbox Series X and S, especially for players not yet ready to upgrade to newer Xbox models with larger built-in storage.
