Rummy 500 (also called Persian Rummy, Pinochle Rummy, or 500 Rum) is a widely loved variation of Rummy. While similar to traditional Rummy, it stands out by allowing players to draw multiple cards from the discard pile, not just the top card.

Under standard Rummy 500 rules, players earn points for melded cards but lose points for any remaining unmatched cards (deadwood) when someone goes out.

Game Rules:

• Playable with 2-4 players using a single deck including jokers

• Each player receives 7 cards

• The goal is to be the first to reach 500 points

• Even if multiple players hit 500, only the highest scorer wins

• Create sets (3-4 cards of the same rank) or sequences (3+ consecutive cards of the same suit) for scoring

• Turns involve drawing a card and ending with a discard

• Players may also lay down melds or add to existing ones ("building") during their turn

• Jokers act as wild cards in sets or sequences

• You may collect multiple discards but must use the most recent one

• Cards picked from the discard pile must be melded immediately

• Face cards count as 10 points, Aces score 11 (or 15 as penalty), and Jokers carry the value of replaced cards plus 15 penalty points

• Games consist of multiple accumulated rounds

• The first player meeting or exceeding 500 points wins

• If tied, a playoff round determines the winner
