Plus de 450 développeurs de Blizzard travaillant sur Diablo ont voté à l'unanimité pour se syndiquer sous l'égide des Communications Workers of America (CWA).

Le nouveau syndicat représente les professionnels de la franchise Diablo, incluant les développeurs, artistes, concepteurs, ingénieurs et personnel de soutien, et a obtenu la reconnaissance officielle de Microsoft, la société mère de Blizzard.

"Lors de vagues successives de licenciements, j'ai vu l'anxiété de mes collègues s'accroître—peu importe notre investissement, la sécurité de l'emploi semble incertaine," a expliqué Kelly Yeo, productrice de jeu et membre du comité d'organisation. "La formation de ce syndicat me remplit d'espoir. C'est notre entrée dans un mouvement à l'échelle de l'industrie qui rejette l'instabilité professionnelle. Avec notre équipe Diablo, nous sommes prêts à défendre une réforme significative."

La division jeux de Microsoft a connu des réductions importantes plus tôt cette année, supprimant environ 9 100 postes, incluant du personnel d'Activision Blizzard.

L'équipe Diablo rejoint de nombreux collègues syndiqués à travers Activision Blizzard et Xbox, bénéficiant de la politique de neutralité syndicale de Microsoft. Leur démarche fait écho à la syndicalisation l'an dernier de l'équipe World of Warcraft et à celle des développeurs d'Overwatch en mai.
