Caped Crusader's New Adventure: Batman Game in the Works by Rocksteady?

Reputable gaming journalist Jason Schreier reports that the celebrated Rocksteady Studios is developing a new single-player Batman game.

Specifics remain limited; Schreier hasn't confirmed if it's a prequel, a sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely separate storyline. However, an anonymous source suggests Rocksteady is creating a Batman Beyond title, transporting players to a futuristic Gotham City. The ambitious plan? A full trilogy. Release is anticipated on next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series was lauded for its stunning graphics, and a futuristic Gotham setting could be Rocksteady's most visually impressive project yet. The Batman Beyond shift also addresses a significant challenge: the voice of Batman. Following the passing of the iconic Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio might focus on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne – a similar approach considered by Warner Bros. Montreal for their cancelled Batman: Arkham Knight sequel.

Rocksteady's previous venture, an online shooter, underperformed, leading to the cancellation of post-launch content within a year. A rushed animated conclusion retconned controversial plot points, revealing certain fallen heroes to be clones.

Rocksteady is now returning to its core strength: developing captivating solo Batman experiences. However, sources caution that the new game is still several years from release.
