The Two Embers: Part One Brings the Origin Story Behind Sky: Children of the Light

As a fan of thatgamecompany's *Sky: Children of the Light*, I'm thrilled to share that the game is embarking on an exciting new venture with its first-ever in-game animated feature, *The Two Embers*. This ambitious project, premiering its first part on July 21st, marks a significant milestone for the game known for its stunning art style, compelling presentation, and captivating storyline.

The Story of The Two Embers

*The Two Embers* unfolds in two parts, with the initial installment focusing on the poignant journeys of two children, separated by time yet bound by deeper connections. The narrative begins with a young orphan navigating life on the fringes of The Ruler's City, a once-vibrant locale now teetering on the brink of collapse.

The story takes a turn when the child discovers a wounded baby manatee, delving into themes of grief, loneliness, and the small yet profound acts of kindness. High above, The Ruler observes the kingdom's decline as a foreboding storm looms on the horizon. This silent animated feature eschews dialogue and voiceovers, relying solely on evocative visuals and a moving musical score to convey the child's sorrow and the manatee's spark of hope.

thatgamecompany has released a first look at *The Two Embers: Part One*, which you can view below:

Each week, a new chapter of the film will be unlocked within Sky Cinema, an in-game theater specifically designed for this experience. Alongside each chapter, new in-game content related to the story will be available, allowing players to delve deeper into the narrative through interactive gameplay.

A Unique Release Strategy

Rather than opting for a traditional release on a streaming platform or as a standalone film, thatgamecompany has chosen to integrate *The Two Embers* directly into *Sky: Children of the Light*. This innovative approach not only enhances the game's immersive world but also elevates it beyond mere gameplay. With the upcoming Aurora's concert and now a full-fledged animated feature, *Sky* is pushing the boundaries of transmedia storytelling.

*The Two Embers* is a collaborative production between Light & Realm, thatgamecompany, and co-producers Illusorium Studios and Orchid. This project stands as one of the most ambitious undertakings by thatgamecompany to date. If you haven't yet explored *Sky*, you can find it on the Google Play Store.
