Acquiring the Flare Knife

The Flare Knife is surprisingly accessible early in the game. Once you achieve Level 003 Code Clearance, visit Zakka in The Warren. This vendor sells a variety of items, including the Flare Knife for 3,000 Entitlement Points. Equip it via the Loadout menu in the Personal Responsibility Portal, selecting an available Combat Item slot.

Utilizing the Flare Knife

The Flare Knife is a reusable combat tool specifically designed for severing Abductor limbs. This offers a valuable alternative for players who prefer Polearms or Heavy Melee weapons, eliminating the need for Light Melee weapons in this specific task. However, remember that it's a single-use item per operation; you'll need to repurchase it for subsequent missions.

To use it, lock onto a severable Abductor limb and use your Thorn to grapple onto it. With the Flare Knife equipped, a severing option will appear. A quick-time event (QTE) will initiate, requiring rapid button presses to successfully sever the limb. Be aware that the Abductor might try to interrupt you by leaping or crashing into the environment.
