Following Scopely's acquisition of Niantic, the Pokémon Go developer, fans have expressed concerns about potential changes, including increased advertising and data privacy issues. However, a recent Polygon interview with Pokémon Go product director Michael Steranka aims to alleviate these anxieties.

Steranka highlights the shared vision between Niantic and Scopely, emphasizing that Scopely is unlikely to introduce intrusive ads into Pokémon Go. Crucially, he assures players that Niantic will not share or sell player data to third parties. He concludes by stating that the transition to Scopely will minimally impact the Niantic team.

Business as Usual? While some corporate restructuring might be expected, Scopely is unlikely to drastically alter Pokémon Go's successful operation. Niantic's focus is shifting towards developing new AR applications, a more significant business priority.

Steranka also emphasizes the Pokémon Company's significant involvement in Pokémon Go's decision-making, further reinforcing the likelihood of maintaining the game's current trajectory.
