Catching Ditto in Pokémon GO requires identifying its disguises. This shape-shifting Pokémon has been in the game for years, and its disguises frequently change.
Ditto Disguises (March 2025)
Currently, Ditto disguises itself as Bergmite, Bidoof, Goldeen, Gothita, Koffing, Numel, Oddish, Rhyhorn, Solosis, Spinarak, and Stufful (as shown in the image above). Catching any of these Pokémon in the wild might reveal a hidden Ditto. Upon capture, the disguised Pokémon transforms into Ditto before the catch screen appears. An "Oh?" will appear above your Pokéball to signal a successful Ditto capture.
Rarity and Identification
Ditto remains relatively rare. However, a key identifier is its low CP (Combat Power), consistently lower than the Pokémon it impersonates. For example, a Level 50 Trainer might encounter a Ditto with a max CP of around 940, while its disguise (e.g., Goldeen) could have a max CP of approximately 1302.
Shiny Ditto
Shiny Ditto has a 1/64 chance of appearing, making it exceptionally rare. Incense and Lure Modules can increase your chances of encountering any Ditto, including a Shiny one. Even without paid items, the Daily Adventure Incense provides a short boost.
