Pokémon TCG Pocket: No Immediate Competitive Plans
The Pokémon Company has confirmed it currently has no plans to integrate Pokémon TCG Pocket into its competitive esports circuit. This was revealed by Chris Brown, Director of eSports, in a recent interview. While the company continually evaluates potential additions to its competitive lineup, Pokémon TCG Pocket isn't currently under consideration. This follows a previous April Fool's joke about a Pokémon Sleep championship.
Reasons for Exclusion (Speculation):
Although no official reasons have been given, several fan theories exist. The game's relative youth (only four months old with two sets released since its October 2024 launch) is a significant factor. While in-app competitive features exist, ongoing balance issues have been raised by players. Furthermore, Pokémon TCG Pocket's simplified mechanics, designed for a broader, more casual audience, may not align perfectly with the demands of a competitive scene.
Other Competitive Pokémon Titles:
Despite the exclusion of Pokémon TCG Pocket, the Pokémon Competitive Circuit remains robust, featuring events for Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and Pokémon Unite. These games will all be showcased at the upcoming Pokémon World Championships in August 2025 in Anaheim, California.
Potential Pokémon Presents Reveal:

While the exact content remains unannounced, speculation abounds regarding significant franchise announcements. There's also anticipation for news regarding Pokémon Legends: Z-A and recently announced mega evolutions. The livestream may offer clues about the franchise's future direction.
