Initially released on December 1, 2015, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, Rainbow Six Siege later came to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2020. Years of updates have made it one of the longest-running live-service shooters. This major update promises to further extend the franchise's lifespan.

A February 17, 2025 Steam post also revealed a new operator, Aurora, with deployable bulletproof doors. A new elite skin for Aruni and a new reputation system rewarding or punishing player behavior are also coming. These additions will launch in Season 1 of Year 10, Operation Prep Phase, on March 4, 2025, to celebrate the game's 10th anniversary.

Given the Season 10 launch date and the Rainbow Six Siege X showcase timing, the major Siege X upgrades will likely be implemented on live servers at a later date.
