Insomniac Co-Studio Heads Interviewed Following Founder and CEO Ted Price's Retirement
Insomniac Games Explores Further Game-to-Screen Adaptations

Insomniac Games, the developer behind Ratchet and Clank, has revealed its interest in adapting more of its gaming titles for film and television. Co-Studio Head Ryan Schneider made this statement in a Wednesday interview with Variety, following the announcement of founder and longtime CEO Ted Price's retirement.
Schneider commented, "I think back to the Ratchet and Clank movie from a few years ago. We got a bit of an early start on that front. Naturally, we're interested in that space. We have a particular fondness for Ratchet and Clank."
A Ratchet and Clank film was released in 2016 to mixed reception. Since Insomniac's acquisition by Sony in 2019, the studio is optimistic about its future adaptation plans, buoyed by Sony's proven success with game-to-screen projects like the widely acclaimed The Last of Us.
Sony's Lineup of Video Game Adaptations

As Insomniac Games shares its ambition for more adaptations, Sony has already demonstrated strong capabilities in this arena. The company has successfully brought several game franchises to film and TV, including the 2022 Uncharted movie and the 2023 The Last of Us series.
Sony announced additional projects during its recent CES 2025 press conference. The Last of Us Season 2 is set to premiere on HBO in April 2025. An Until Dawn live-action film is also slated for April 2025. Furthermore, a Ghost of Tsushima Legends anime series will arrive on Crunchyroll in 2027. A Helldivers feature film and a Horizon Zero Dawn live-action movie are in development, though release dates have not been confirmed.
Insomniac Founder and CEO Ted Price Retires After 30 Years

Alongside the interview with Insomniac's co-Studio Heads, founder and CEO Ted Price announced his retirement after three decades. Insomniac Games is the studio responsible for iconic franchises like Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, and Marvel's Spider-Man. Price stated, "I actually made this decision last year. After more than 30 years leading Insomniac, I felt it was simply time to step back and let others guide the team forward."
Leadership of the company will be assumed by three Insomniac veterans serving as Co-Studio Heads: Ryan Schneider, Chad Dezern, and Jen Huang. Price added, "I firmly believe that for us to sustain our success, we need leaders at the helm who deeply understand our methods, have helped shape our culture and processes, and have earned the team's trust."
