Rockstar Acquires Video Games Deluxe, Establishes Rockstar Australia

Rockstar Games has acquired Video Games Deluxe, the developer behind Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, renaming it Rockstar Australia. Video Games Deluxe boasts a history of collaboration with Rockstar, contributing to projects such as the 2017 L.A. Noire re-releases and recent upgrades to the GTA Trilogy for various platforms, including iOS, Android, and modern consoles. This acquisition distinguishes Rockstar's partnership with Video Games Deluxe from its previous work with Grove Street Games, the developer of the initially poorly-received 2021 GTA Trilogy release.

"We're thrilled to welcome Video Games Deluxe to the Rockstar family as Rockstar Australia," stated Jennifer Kolbe, Rockstar Games Head of Publishing. The close, long-standing collaboration between the two entities paved the way for this exciting development.

Founded by Brendan McNamara, the creator of L.A. Noire developer Team Bondi, Video Games Deluxe's integration into Rockstar follows McNamara's relatively low profile since the controversies surrounding Team Bondi's working conditions in 2011. McNamara expressed his enthusiasm about joining Rockstar and continuing to develop high-quality games.
