Mastering Fishing in Rune Slayer: A Comprehensive Guide
If you doubted Rune Slayer’s MMORPG credentials, its fishing mechanic settles the debate. This guide will walk you through the surprisingly non-intuitive process of catching fish.
Recommended Prep Work: Embark on Simon's Quest
Screenshot by The EscapistBegin by accepting the fishing quest from Simon the Fisherman (the white-haired NPC near the Barracuda's swimming area). He requests 5 "fish" in exchange for a Tackle Box.
Gear Up: Acquire Rod and Bait
Screenshot by The EscapistPurchase a Wood Fishing Rod and at least 5 Worms (10 is recommended) from Simon. Crucially, you don't equip the bait; simply keep the Worms in your inventory. A caught "fish" consumes one Worm. Having at least 5 Worms seems essential for successful fishing. Place them in your hotbar for easy monitoring.
The Fishing Process: Cast, Wait, Reel
Gif by The EscapistSelect your Wood Fishing Rod (no equipping needed). Hold M1 to cast your line into the water (near Simon's pier works well). Watch the bobber; when it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch.
Important Note: Success Isn't Guaranteed
This method isn't foolproof. You might catch nothing, or you might catch junk ("Old Cups," for example). However, Simon counts all catches towards your quest.
Quest Completion and Tackle Box Acquisition
