The real draw is the intense monster battles. The protagonist (male or female) explores uncharted lands, following an expedition sparked by the discovery of a boy, Nata, in the desert—the sole survivor of a tribe attacked by a creature known as the "White Ghost."

While the narrative is more structured than previous entries, it's still not the game's focus. The linearity can feel restrictive after about ten hours. The 15-20 hour campaign might feel like a hurdle for players prioritizing hunting over story; thankfully, most cutscenes are skippable.

Hunting itself is streamlined. Hitting a monster reveals wounds; destroying them with a button press deals massive damage and yields parts (automatically collected!). This simplification is a welcome change.
