Baldur's Gate 3, despite being over a year old, continues to captivate players with its rich gameplay and replayability. However, with Larian Studios moving on from the series, the future of Baldur's Gate rests with Hasbro. Fortunately, we won't have to wait long for news.

Hasbro's SVP of digital games, Dan Ayoub, recently revealed at the Game Developers Conference that they have significant interest in the Baldur's Gate franchise and are actively developing plans for its future. He hinted at upcoming announcements, stating that "in pretty short order, we're going to have some stuff to talk about around that."

While Ayoub remained tight-lipped on specifics—whether this involves a full-fledged Baldur's Gate 4 or a different approach—he confirmed a desire to eventually create Baldur's Gate 4, acknowledging the considerable time investment such an undertaking would require. He emphasized a measured approach, stating, "We're not in a hurry... We're going to take a very measured approach."

Ayoub also acknowledged the immense pressure to deliver a high-quality successor, a pressure that extends to other Dungeons & Dragons projects under Hasbro's purview. He expressed confidence in rising to the challenge, stating, "I'm never one to shy down from a challenge... I think that's our hope, right? We would keep raising the bar and everyone just tries to go a little higher."

Ayoub also discussed other topics, including Magic: The Gathering, their partnership with Saber Interactive, and Hasbro's broader game strategy. A full interview will be available next week.
