Event Horizon: Dark Descent Arrives as Film Prequel

Almost three decades after its theatrical debut, Paul W.S. Anderson's cult classic Event Horizon is receiving a prequel. IDW Publishing announces Event Horizon: Dark Descent, a five-issue comic series that delves into the untold backstory of the film while uncovering the mysterious fate of the original spacecraft crew.

The series features writing by Christian Ward (Batman: City of Madness) and artwork by Tristan Jones (Aliens: Defiance), with coloring by Pip Martin (That Texas Blood) and variant covers by Ward, Jeffrey Alan Love, Martin Simmonds, and Joshua Hixson.

IDW's official synopsis for Event Horizon: Dark Descent reads:

Channeling the film's visceral R-rated intensity, EVENT HORIZON: DARK DESCENT #1 (of 5) blasts into stores this August. This standalone prequel reveals the terrifying truth behind Captain Kilpack's doomed expedition as his crew ventures through unimaginable horrors orchestrated by Paimon, Hell's sightless sovereign, delivering pure cosmic terror.
