L'ancien cadre de PlayStation, Shuhei Yoshida, a récemment partagé des informations sur son expérience avec le prototype non publié Nintendo PlayStation, notamment en jouant à un jeu presque terminé développé pour la console annulée.

Dans une interview Minnmax , Yoshida a raconté sa carrière à Sony, en commençant par ses premiers travaux aux côtés de Ken Kutaragi, connu sous le nom de «père de Playstation». Rejoignant l'équipe de Kutaragi en février 1993, lors du développement de la PlayStation originale, Yoshida et d'autres nouvelles recrues ont été présentés au prototype Nintendo PlayStation. Il a souligné qu'il s'agissait d'un prototype fonctionnel, pas seulement d'un concept.

Yoshida a décrit avoir joué un jeu presque fini sur le système son premier jour. Il a comparé le style du jeu à un tireur spatial contemporain, peut-être le CD de Sega Silpheed , ce qui suggère qu'il a diffusé des actifs à partir d'un CD. Bien qu'il ne se souvienne pas de l'identité du développeur ou de l'origine du jeu (États-Unis ou du Japon), il a exprimé son optimisme quant à sa survie potentielle. "Je ne serais pas surpris", a-t-il déclaré, faisant référence à la nature basée sur les CD du stockage du jeu.
