Monster Hunter Wilds: A Fresh Take on Weapon Design
Concerns arose among fans regarding the weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World, prompting questions about whether Monster Hunter Wilds would follow a similar pattern. While initial glimpses of Wilds' weapons offered limited insight, Director Yuya Tokuda has clarified the design philosophy.
Tokuda stated that, unlike Monster Hunter: World where weapons largely maintained a base form with variations based on monster materials, Wilds features uniquely designed weapons. This directly addresses the concerns of repetitive designs seen in its predecessor. While some Monster Hunter: World weapons eventually evolved into unique forms through upgrades, many remained visually similar. The comparison below highlights this issue, showcasing the similarity between the final Aqua and Pukei-Pukei Sword and Shield, and the final Bone and Jyuratodus Long Swords. These were the highest-tier versions available at launch.
In contrast, the slideshow below presents the diverse and distinct weapon designs showcased in Monster Hunter Wilds. Each weapon boasts a unique aesthetic.
