Marvel Rivals Addresses Low FPS Damage Issue Affecting Certain Heroes

Marvel Rivals players experiencing reduced damage output at lower FPS settings, particularly with heroes like Dr. Strange and Wolverine, can rest assured that developers are actively working on a solution. This 30 FPS bug, impacting damage calculations, is a known issue.

The game, launched in early December 2025, has garnered significant popularity, boasting an 80% approval rating on Steam based on over 132,000 reviews. Despite initial hero balance concerns, the community largely embraces the title.

Recent reports highlighted a 30 FPS glitch affecting damage dealt by several heroes, including Dr. Strange, Magik, Star-Lord, Venom, and Wolverine. Reduced damage was observed across some or all of their attacks at lower frame rates.

A community manager confirmed the issue on the official Discord server, noting movement problems at lower FPS that also affect damage output. While a definitive fix timeline isn't available, the manager assured players that Season 1, launching January 11th, will include an update addressing the problem. Further refinements may follow if the initial Season 1 patch doesn't fully resolve the issue.

Investigating the Root Cause: Client-Side Prediction

The root of the problem appears to lie within Marvel Rivals' client-side prediction mechanism. This common programming technique aims to minimize perceived lag by displaying character movement before server confirmation.

While the Discord post didn't provide an exhaustive list of affected heroes and abilities, Wolverine's Feral Leap and Savage Claw were specifically mentioned. The effects are more pronounced against stationary targets compared to live matches. The developers are committed to a complete resolution, either with the Season 1 update or in a subsequent patch.
